Just a quick note to congratulate Barbara White and all the hard working employees at California Auto Repair and Smog (or CARS as we know it) on your being recognized as a Top Shop by Motor Age Magazine in December 2010! You have done a fabulous job of creating a business that provides complete service from pick-up to drop-off and everything inbetween. It is truly a feather in your cap to be listed in the Top 10 for the Nation, but this is the SECOND TIME you have been chosen for this honor. Who says Redding is too small to offer the best? We have a perfect example right here in the North State. Way to go, CARS!

On a glorious summer day, I’d just picked up my boat from a repair shop. I no sooner pulled into traffic when the engine died. In a car, that’s a real problem – but in a crew cab diesel and a large cabin cruiser – that means a 44 foot long – 7 ton chunk of vehicle. Not the sort of thing you jump out and push to the curb. By the way… it was 109 degrees outside.
The dealer was “CLEWLESS”.
I called CARS. In minutes, one of their techs Identified a blown fuse (Not even indicated in the owners’ manual) and that a frayed ignition wire in the steering column was the cause. Between us we devised a quick fix and got us back on the road.
